!±8± Child Safety Car Seats - Some Information

The issue of child safety car seats has become much more serious over the years. In the past,it was a perfectly acceptable thing for a new mother to ride home in a car holding her newborn infant in her arms. This is no longer the case.

There have been too many vehicular accidents over the years that have proved fatal to young children. This proved to be unacceptable as time went on. Measures were taken to insure the safety of babies and young children when riding in a moving vehicle. Laws were also made to enforce these measures.

Child safety car seats became the answer to protecting children when they were traveling in a car, truck, van or any other moving vehicle. These seats were designed to keep the children safe in the event of an accident. The statistics show that children sitting in these specially designed seats had a much higher survival rate than those who were not.

Older babies can be turned forward to face the front of the car. However, these children still need to be in the back seat. Always make sure they are buckled in correctly, and never give them any sharp edged toys or suckers with sticks. If you happen to hit the breaks too hard, these objects can cause great harm.

When a new mother takes her infant home from the hospital, she must now have a car seat specifically designed for newborns. It must already be in the car for the baby to ride home in. These particular seats are made so that the baby will be in a semi reclining position, facing the rear window. This insures that the baby is safer should the unthinkable happen.

During the ages between 0 - 5 always have your child in the appropriate car seat. Everywhere there are now laws regarding children riding in safe car seats. They are so serious about this that you can be issued a ticket along with a pretty large fine if you are stopped for not having your child safely in his or her car seat.

Child safety car seats for toddlers allow them to face the front seat, thereby affording a better and more interesting view of the outside world. This position usually is much more entertaining for them, and lets them feel less isolated since they can see their parents from this angle. The feeling of being a part of the group can make for a more peaceful trip as they will be happier.

As your child gets older, there will eventually no longer be a need for car seats. However, there are still some places that require any child under the age of 13 to remain in the back seat as a passenger. When they are this age, they will need to be fastened securely by a regular seat belt. Now you can start worrying about when they get their drivers license in 3 years.
